Announcement

Please note that this year, there is an age limit for the participants.

With reference to our invitation circular, each school can only send a team of 4 students who are between 13 to 16 years or younger on 31st August 2011. This year's new introduction to age limit is because outstanding students will be chosen to participate in the National Geographic World Championship in 2011, thus secondary 4 students who will turn 17 before 31st August 2011 will not be allowed to participate, as of this year's Geography Challenge.

We have been getting questions like the following:

1. Can I send in Sec 4s (born in 1994) that have their birthdays later than 31st August (eg. DOB: 1st September 2011)?
Yes. This means that as of 1st September 2011, the student is not yet 17 years old. As long as the student meets the age requirement as stated, he/she is eligible to join.

2. Can I send in 2 teams?
No. To ensure that all schools stand an equal chance, we will only allow one team per school.

3. Can I send in Sec 4s that do not meet the age requirement and choose to forgo their chance in the NatGeo competition?
No, that will not be allowed. All students in NUS GC will be considered for selection and that is the Organising Committee's policy.

4. Can I submit the registration fees by cash on Prelims?
Yes, you can. Our treasurer will be around to collect payment from the teachers during Preliminary Rounds on 20th February.

5. Can I choose to have a reserve?
Yes. However, that will be at the discretion of each school and we will not require the particulars of the reserve unless actual substitution takes place. If schools choose to send their reserves to Prelims, the reserves will not be registered or given any question paper to do. If there are any changes in team members due to valid reasons (eg. student has fallen ill), schools are strongly encouraged to let us know as soon as these changes take place.

Please note that the extended deadline for the entry forms is 10th February.
